Dawn's Early Light on a Winter's Day in Massachusetts

Lookingatthesky

Dawn's early light during the winter in Massachusetts...

IMG_7543

...means that it's time to get out and shovel your driveway so you can leave for work!

It had only snowed about 4 inches, but the plow came by while we slept, leaving a pile of hard, crunchy snow at the end of all the driveways. My BIL said had the plow not come by, he could have just driven out... The finer points of snow guidelines that I either did not know, or have forgotten in the last 34 years.
IMG_7552

One by one, I watched the men-folk venture out with their shovels. The women-folk came out to start their vehicles in order to defrost the windshields and rear windows and warm up all the fluids before they can drive their vehicles. I was cold and tired just watching them.
IMG_7551

I sat in the nice warm house on the soft, comfy sofa with my nice, hot cuppa coffee. I felt a little bit guilty for not going out to help them. Ya, sure I did! hahaha! :)
IMG_7556

Soon the sun came out. The skies turn blue and I watched ice melting as the air warmed all the way up to the day's high of 34 degrees. Nice, huh?

I'm so glad I live in south Georgia! Have a great Friday, y'all!

Snow and other Massachusetts stuff

On our one relaxing day this past weekend, 3 of the 4 SisterDears took a ride to the house we spent our teenage years in. It's only a few miles from Empress Big Hair's house. This is it. It is a 4-bedroom Colonial, although the wing on the left (which goes from the front of the house to the back of the house) was added on some time after we moved. I am always amazed by how narrow the streets look now. I would say the houses look smaller, but as it happens nearly every house in the neighborhood has had a major add-on; either a wing, an entire floor or a double car garage. Some have had all three! The lot is 1 acre, so there's plenty of room for a 2-car garage, but for some reason, this house still has no garage. It does have a teeny shed behind the house though!
IMG_7580

The house is now for sale, so I got to see the inside on the realtor's web site. It's been completely upgraded inside, so there is almost nothing recognizable. However... see that rather tall Blue Spruce in the center of the photo? My Dad planted that in the late 60's when it was a mere sapling! Dad use to take the water hose and Voila! We has us a peach of an Ice Skating Rink in this section of the yard all winter long. It actually was lots of fun! All the neighborhood kids used it too! Picture dorky kids with goofy hats and scarfs, hockey sticks and a puck. We could also pretend that we were all famous figure skaters. Ha! Remember the long knitted stocking hats with the pom-poms at the end? Yup. Now you've got the picture. Mine was orange with beige stripes I think.

IMG_7574

Here's something I hadn't seen in a good many years! It had snowed the night before and as we were leaving the old neighborhood we passed this snow plow. We don't have these in Georgia! I also don't own a snow shovel or a windshield scraper. Fun times.

IMG_7596

This little creek is at the dead end of the street. I thought it was very picturesque! I got out of the car to take this one... it was 18 degrees. I got right back in the car! OMG! I could never live in New England during the winter again!

IMG_7587

Well, that's another trip down Memory Lane! I hope you all have a wonderful day!

Tiara Time!

The SisterDear weekend came and went so quickly, as it always does! Unfortunately, MotherDear was taking a much needed nap when all 4 SisterDears were together. So here we have (L-R) Queen Crescent Moon, Empress Big Hair, Duchess PMS (that's me!) and Viscountess Runs-with-the-Bulls.

IMG_7522_cr_so

And when MotherDear was awake, SisterDear3 had to return to her very busy life to get her 9 year old twins to bed because they had school the next day. It isn't easy getting everyone together at the same time when you have one big happy family! Here is Princess All That, Queen Crescent Moon, Duchess PMS and Empress Big Hair.

New Tiaras were given on this SisterDear Weekend! Here is Empress Big Hair with her very pregnant DIL, Princess Never Shuts Up. Her own little Princess is due to arrive mid-April, but we discovered that Tiaras are not available to little Princesses under 3 years old, so she will have to do some growing before she can get her very own Tiara.

Here is one of my nephews and his girlfriend, Duchess Shines Like the Moon.

And the littlest one in the front is one of my nieces, Marchioness Jokes a Lot. Her Tiara has genuine fake pink diamonds. Way cool!

I took over 400 photos over the 3 days, so you know there will be more coming! In the mean time, have a wonderful Wednesday!

Here's a bonus Ladybug bathing suit that my sister gave to her daughter-in-law at the baby shower on Sunday. The baby girl will be my sister's first grandchild. We're all very excited about her arrival!

And of course, ya gotta have the hat!

I'm probably flying as you read this. I'll be back to normal on Wednesday, whatever "normal" may be! Have a great day, y'all!

Gandalf is really getting into Doodle Week, isn't he?! He's a regular Casanova! Ha!

Yesterday was my niece-in-law's Baby Shower! It took her at least 3 hours to open all the gifts! Wow, that was a Marathon! I took lots of photos, but I won't be able to upload them until I get back home. We came home from the shower, put on our relaxing clothes and our Tiaras and had a glass of wine with leftovers.

Today is a relaxing day, and I'm traveling back to Georgia on Tuesday, so look for photos after that.

Oh... It's snowing right now... did I already mention that? Brrrr!

As you read this, I am likely 30,000 feet in the air as I make my way to New England with MotherDear and SisterDear3. It will be a long weekend visit, but it will probably seem like a minute and a half to me, except for the travel days.

I've already scheduled all my Doodle Week posts for the week, but I'll try to do some updates as time allows.

Have a great day!

Cloud Watching

Lookingatthesky

The clouds were really moving fast on this particular day. Wait 10 seconds and the sky was completely different.

IMG_7104

And No, I do not know what kind of clouds they are. However, I do have the technology to tell you that this day happened to have been Friday, January 30, 2008. Pretty, huh? But I had already scheduled my post for that day. So I saved them for you. :)

It was a great day to lie on the grass with your best chum and Cloud Watch. Darn. Sometimes I hate being a grownup.

Stop by Tisha's for more great skies. And tell her I gave you the old link to the blogspot blog instead of the new link to the dot com blog -just to mess with her pretty head. :)

You know you're getting old when...

your SisterDear looks at the clock on her very first rainy night in Georgia and says through a humongous yawn...

IMG_2415

...Is it just 6:30?

Yup. We're Party Animals alright :) And nope. No Tiara photos yet.

Kitty/Auntie Update:

Grayson loves Auntie to pieces and has already been in her lap.

Gandalf, not so much.
