This past week I was done in by the flu, so I haven't seen much scenery other than my bedroom. While I am feeling much better, these are from the archives.
I took these first 2 on March 28, 2008 at my Swamp.
I am counting the days when my geese will return to the Swamp! I've missed them something awful! I am also anxious to see if all 3 of their goslings return with them. Huey, Dewey and Louie were the first of their goslings to survive and actually fledge! You can't imagine how excited I was to see them fly that very first time! Wow!
June 10, 2008 - the day they were first presented to me!
June 26, 2008 - their awkward 'tween-age period. You know... post-dander and pre-feathers?
July 9, 2008 - that really gangly time... the first hint of actual feathers!
July 29, 2008 - Finally! They look like Canadian Geese! So much so, that I can barely tell them apart anymore. In fact, Mama and Papa Goose have molted about this time, so they are actually growing back new flight feathers while the goslings grow their first ever feathers. Isn't Mother Nature incredibly smart?
A mere 7 weeks- What an amazing transformation! They flew about 2 weeks after this was taken! I hope Mother Nature's been watching over them for me! Come home soon, babies!

I love your swamp and all your birds. :)
Spring! SPRNG! We all want spring!!!
Gandalf says the geese look delicious, oops... he means cute...
;-P
Glad you're feeling better~
Nasty flu!
I love your goose photos. Yesterday at dusk I watched some geese making their way home. It was a delightful sight. I just stopped the car and watched.
I am glad you are feeling better.
Gandalf, wouldn't it be fun to have them live with you?
Great series, and wonderful scenes for this Sunday! Sorry you've been under the weather, but glad that you're on the mend. As for taking images from your archives, that's where most of mine come from! :0)
This is a wonderful series of photos - thanks for re-posting them. Hope you're feeling better soon!
I love that whole series and will be looking forward to hearing about the babies coming back.
My contribution to Sunday Scenery is up here. Please stop by if you get a chance.
The Canadians are so beautiful! Do they spend the summer with you? We always enjoyed the geese my Dad had. Unfortunately, the wild cats and Coyotes got them!
Awwww..I love the canada geese..When my neighbors aren't looking, I toss some cracked corn...I hope I don't get caught...I'm glad that your are improving..these bugs can really take a long time to recover from..Michelle
You were so fortunate to see such an amazing transformation. We hope Huey, Dewey, and Louie return this year.
What terrific shots. You really do photography very, very well. I too hope mother nature is watching over these adorable babies.
Have a terrific day. Big hug. :)
They look when not on MY deck! Their poop isn't fun to have around...
You must be counting the days till they return. I saw Canada geese swimming in a pond near me today...so either they have already returned or they never left. I took photos... thought I took photos. My camera was too cold and the pictures I took were very, very bad. I learned a sad lesson: keep my camera warm. ;-)
And I thought my doves were neat! I can't imagine how much fun it was watching them grow...
~~~Blessings~~~
Hi Barb ... I checked out your blog after seeing a link to "Goosies" on The Junk Drawer! I'm so glad I did! Your pictures are wonderful ... Gandalf is so cute and I love his name. I hope you're feeling all better and I hope you don't mind if I visit again!
I know what you mean about Sunday Scenery being bedroom ceilings! I was half-tempted to post a pic of mine except that I haven't had the ambition to grab my camera!
Lovely pictures of the geese (who have returned!).
Glad that you are feeling better and I hope that's it for illness for you for a long while! Being sick is no fun at all!
What a treat to be able to watch goslings grow up! A few years ago I worked in an office complex with grass and ponds and no hunters -- everything Canada geese need to make a home. And they did! I could watch goose parades force cars to stop between buildings. My ex-boss said she hated them, because they got in the way and pooped on everything. I loved watching the fuzzy peepers and the responsible father and mother goose. Which explains why she kept rising in the business and I am "no longer with the company." :-)
Awwwww, I love seeing all your goslings again! Hope that they do come back to your swamp this year. I was out taking pictures of two Canada Geese last week at sunset on a pond. I hope to post them this week!
