Dislike

Yesterday I spent a fair amount of time Un-Liking and Un-Friending on Facebook, as well as hiding most of my photo albums from everyone but myself. I had almost 300 friends and almost 400 Likes, which meant that every time I go on Facebook I see a bazillion commercials and lots of stuff I don't want or need to see.
... and I was missing half of the updates from my SisterDears.

What's wrong with that picture?

So I cut deep, and will cut deeper as time allows and as things pop up. For instance, did you know that there is campaign to get Cookie Monster to host Saturday Night Live? Did you want to know that? I felt a little bit mean, because I ♥ Cookie Monster, but I Un-Liked him anyway. There were 3,617 people who 'liked' that status update and 350 comments when I Un-Liked him.

Drastic times call for drastic measures. Sorry, Cookie Monster.

I may also be doing something with the blog soon. I have 88 people following and 151 people subscribed to my feed, but only 8-15 people commenting. That sort of creeps me out for some reason.

My plans for going out last night fell through. In all honesty, I was sorta glad when my friends called to cancel as I was a tad worried about it being so cold. It is an outdoor event, and I'm a big sissy about 30 degree weather nowadays, so perhaps it was for the best. :]

This weekend I'll be helping some other friends with a big project, so I'll be away most of the weekend. I hope you have some awesome in your weekend! I know I will! Big Hugs ♥xo

First Friday

This Friday night is First Friday downtown... and I'm actually going with some friends. Hooray for getting out of the house for a change!

And this Saturday is the Downtown Holiday Open House & Festival. I would love to attend, especially to have breakfast with Santa, but I'll be helping some friends.

Why do they have it the day after First
Friday night? Because except for the lighting of the Christmas Tree and Breakfast with Santa, it's pretty much the exact same thing. I suppose Friday night is more for adults and Saturday is geared more toward kids and families. But it's really the same stuff. I would think they'd have a better turnout having the two events further apart. But what do I know?

Dang it. I'd really have liked to have seen that Parade, too.

I've decided to just forget about putting up my tree this year. It just doesn't work for this house. I'm just going to put out my 3 lighted reindeer in the front yard. I may put out some of my Snowmen and Santas, if I feel like clearing off my shelves. And then only if I can find them in the garage. It's not lookin' good though. :]

Marry Christmas Tree

So. Yesterday morning was the parent's annual stringing of the Christmas Tree lights... meaning MotherDear asked Dad to put their little tree up for her to decorate with all of their sentimental, handmade ornaments from the kids and grandkids. The actual decorating process will be approximately one week-long. Ya got 'ta get the ornaments "just so", ya know.

And so it has begun.

I believe in my heart of hearts that most men dearly hate putting up Christmas Trees and Christmas Tree lights. Am I wrong? I didn't think so. Which is exactly why as a young bride only a few years married, I never once again asked Mr. Ex to help me with the tree. I like to keep the joy in Christmas, thankyouverymuch. I don't wish to hear nary a negative word.

The End.

I'm Dreaming of a White Christmas

Hypothetically speaking, of course. I just love me a little Clyde McPhatter, don't you?

I'm desperately seeking Christmas Tree real estate. It's looking bleak. There's just nowhere here at the Swamp that my tree will fit... unless I remove furniture. And then where would I put the furniture? Or sit to enjoy the tree?

Maybe I need to get a small and tall - like an Alpine Tree.

I know one thing... I'm missing my living room and fireplace at the Yellow house.

La Befana

You know how much I want to see Italy, right? Well, Christmas in Italy sounds divine, doesn't it?

I've just discovered an Italian Christmas Legend/Tradition:

According to the legend, the night before the Wise Men arrived at the manger they stopped at the shack of an old woman to ask directions. They invited her to come along but she replied that she was too busy. Then a shepherd asked her to join him but again she refused. Later that night, she saw a great light in the sky and decided to join the Wise Men and the shepherd bearing gifts that had belonged to her child who had died. She got lost and never found the manger. Now La Befana flies around on her broomstick each year on the 11th night, bringing gifts to children in hopes that she might find the Baby Jesus. Children hang their stockings on the evening of January 5 awaiting the visit of La Befana.

I think I've found my calling! All I need now is a broomstick! That flies.

And is anybody going to explain to me why the priest fainted? Please? Because I still don't get it.

Of Christmas Lights and Trees... the musical edition

Don't I feel silly just putting out my white icicles...

Boy, that really is amazing. And I'm really glad I don't live in that neighborhood. Just saying.

And for those of you who are afraid to just let loose and sing-along...

All you have to do is pretend you're Jim Carrey while you're doing it and it'll be great!

And for Linda...

...just so you'll know what to expect with Tesla's first Christmas tree. And the rest of them. srsly.

A few years back, while I was still living in Lakeland, FL some gal pals and I attended a Christmas concert with The Irish Tenors. It was simply sublime. I heard 'Fairytale in New York' for the first time at that concert. I couldn't find this song on video but I did find this audio link of them singing Fairytale in New York. The audio doesn't do them justice, but it's still marvelous.

Stop. Stop. That's not Roll It, Dude

Yay for Monday! Because I felt SO much better yesterday compared to Friday, but Saturday was the worst. I majorly vegged Saturday. I stayed in my jammies and watched at least 5 FaLaLaLa Lifetime Christmas movies in bed Saturday. Maybe even 6. I was totally washed out. Thank goodness I was back to feeling more like myself again yesterday. These large gatherings use to be no problem at all for me... now? Not so much. But I had a great time and I know everybody there did, too. Especially the ones that didn't leave until 11:45pm. :]

So you know yesterday was Take a MotherDear to Bingo with the Biddies Day, right? And she's SO not done with her winning streak. She was getting some dirty looks, too. But I couldn't help it. I wanted to win for a change!

Hey, we're just about done with November already! Only 26 days until Christmas! Go out and put some YAY! in your day! I know I will! Big Hugs ♥xo
